St. Louis (KSDK) -- People are dropping off donations for the tornado victims in Fort Leonard Wood at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport.
The USO of Missouri will be collecting new and gently used items for military families January 4 through January 6, daily, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m at the Air Cargo parking lot, east of Terminal 2 at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport.
A tornado touched down at the fort around 9:45 a.m. on New Year's Eve, damaging or destroying several buildings on the Army post. At present, 50 families have homes that are a total loss and another 110 families have homes that sustained significant damage, rendering those houses unsafe to inhabit until repairs can be made.
The USO of Missouri is asking for the following items for donations:
--Linens
--Curtains/sheers
--First aid kits
--Laundry detergent
--Cleaning supplies
--Towels
--Wash cloths
--Bath rugs
--Shower curtains
--Toilet brushes
--Hairspray
--Laundry baskets
--Men's shaving cream
--Deodorant
--Wal-Mart gift cards
--Lowe's gift cards
